I had to go for Basil Rathbone, with Peter Cushion as a very close second!!!. ;)

Solid choice Ian. I also went for Basil Rathbone. I grew up watching Rathbone as Holmes and (although I like Peter Cushings outings in the role) he will always be my favorite Holmes.

He certainly had the lot Darren. The looks, the movement, the voice and even the sideburns. :D

Some actors have that little bit extra, and I think that's what he had. B)

Cheers,

Ian

I'm glad to see that Rathbone is in the lead. Check out that Brett has no votes yet, surely a surprise since many fans claim he is the best of the bunch.

My two favorite Universal Holmes movies are FACES DEATH and HOUSE OF FEAR. I also really love both of the Fox Holmes movies HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES and THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES.

Not at all. As soon as I saw you had replied to this thread I was like "Doh! I know who I forgot to include in the poll.

I love Roger Moore as 007 (he's my favorite by far) and he was excellent as Simon Templar and in his other movies but he's not my favorite Holmes.

Still it's a very entertaining movie and MacNee makes a good Watson.

I'm still astounded that Brett has no votes yet. Zencat evidently hasn't been to this forum yet.

Brett has one now! :D

I like alot of the Holmes as actors but the best Holmes are Ian Richardson and Jeremy Brett. I vote for Brett usually over Ian because he was in the most Holmes films.
